For decades, conditioning has been viewed through a simple lens: Make athletes tired so they become fitter.
This philosophy has produced endless gassers, suicides, timed runs, and punishment-based conditioning sessions. While these methods certainly create fatigue, an important question remains: Does becoming tired actually improve sport performance? Not necessarily. The objective of "conditioning" shouldn’t be to see who can tolerate the most suffering. It should be to develop athletes who can continue producing high-quality actions when fatigue inevitably appears. Fatigue is not the enemy. It’s simply another constraint the athlete must solve.
